Chinese Companies Entering Germany

A German market-entry plan needs a credible connection between customer demand, delivery capability and the proposed commercial model. An English-language discussion can help international management teams align those decisions before committing resources.

Discuss European expansion

01Validate the buying situation

Identify the intended industry, buyer and use case rather than treating Germany as one customer group. Assess competing options, procurement expectations, documentation and service needs. Distinguish interest in an introductory discussion from a validated purchasing opportunity. Set evidence requirements before forecasting sales or choosing a permanent operating footprint.

02Design the channel and partner mandate

A distributor, sales agent and strategic industrial partner solve different problems. Specify the territory, customer access, technical responsibilities and service obligations each partner would cover. Evaluate commercial fit, conflicts and execution capacity, with independent due diligence where appropriate. A personal introduction alone is not evidence of reliability.

03Separate incorporation from commercial readiness

Germany Trade & Invest publishes guidance on establishment options, including subsidiaries and branches. The right structure depends on the business and requires individual legal and tax advice. Formation does not by itself establish demand, a compliant product offering or a customer-service capability. Examine these workstreams separately and align their timing.

04Make cross-border decisions accountable

Clarify which decisions remain with headquarters and which need local business input. Prepare market-facing materials, escalation paths and a realistic plan for customer communication. TSH supports strategic questions about positioning, partners and the business environment; it does not promise approvals, institutional endorsement or Chinese-language service delivery.

Questions for an initial discussion

  • What product or service is intended for German customers?
  • Will the initial model use direct sales, distribution or partnerships?
  • What local delivery and service arrangements are available?
